Sicilian Cooking Workshop includes:

Part 1: A morning visit to the local markets to shop for ingredients.

Part 2: Cooking demostration event

Part 3: Gala dinning and savouring delicious Sicilian dishes

The workshop is a one day event.
In the morning you’ll visit our local fruit markets in Ortigia.
There you’ll be shown the secrets of how to select fresh fish and vegetables.

This is our goal: to give emotions to be repeated over time

Program for the day:

08:00 am – Guests will meet and depart in a minivan for the morning shopping excursion.

08:15 am – Arrive at the Port of Ognina where you will be greeted by the local fisherman. Our cook/guide will share his secrets on what to look for when selecting fresh fish for the appropriate dishes.

09:00 am – A touristic drive into Ortigia where you’ll experience the atmosphere of the local fruit and vegetable market. There you’ll find all fresh local produce such as cheeses, olives, sun dried tomatoes and of course an assortment of cold cuts such as delicious salami and prosciutto.
While visiting the market you’ll experience a traditional Sicilian style breakfast.

10:00 am Departure from Ortigia market and head back to the kitchen.

10:30 am Theory lesson on:

· Leavening ingredients and the rising process of bread.
· Fermentation of beer, wine, cheese.
· Protein coagulation of meats, fish and eggs.
· Marinating fish.
· Different cooking Methods and Techniques.
· Different Methods of food preservations.
· Minimising waste and saving money.
· Learning the art of presenting food through shape and color.

1:30 pm – Lunch will be served.

2:30 pm – Cooking demonstration with time to put into action what you’ve learned

You will learn how to:
-prepare and the different ways to season fish and vegetables
– bread making
– prepare delicious desserts

8:00 pm – Sit down for the Gala dinner

-at the end of dinner you’ll be presented with a Certificate of Participation.

Price € 90 per person includes:
-transport with a driver and personal cook/guide to the local fish and vegetables markets
-theory and cooking lesson
-breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Price € 30 includes:
only dinner

Minimum number of 5 people.
Cooking workshops will be held Monday to Saturday.

Please let us know if anyone in your group particularly any children participating in the cooking workshop who may have any food intolerances.
Our cook will be happy to specifically cater to your needs.
